Why This Case Is Famous
The Charles Manson case was one of the most infamous cases in history because he had fresh and new ideas that made people feel like they could trust him. He was also a large musician which also made people believe that they could trust him and that they could follow him. This eventually led to the making of a cult called “The Family”. He was later put on trial for being the mastermind and the one who orchestrated 9 murders over the course of one weekend in 1969. He was later convicted and sent to prison for life and eventually died in 2017 in prison. Witness testimonies said that Manson wasn't the one to actually kill the people at either of the two crime scenes but the court found Manson guilty of killing Tate-Lanca, which was made worse because of the fact that the actress was pregnant at the time of the killing. Manson ultimately became a celebrity when he was put on the cover of the Life magazine in December of 1969 and the cover of the rolling stones in June 1970. There were also many novels, films, recordings and interviews with and about Manson. The Manson case was also one of the longest murder cases in history and because of all of the crazy things he and "the family" did during the trial. It was also one of the first publicized murder cases, making people very interested in what was about to happen next.
